Join us to learn exceptional practices to nourish and invigorate your garden, farm, and landscape!

BIODYNAMIC GARDENING AND FARMING WORKSHOP  

Presented by Harald Hoven, Biodynamic farmer, teacher, and consultant

SCHEDULE:

9:30 - 11:00   Welcome and Morning Session - The History and Fundamentals of Biodynamic Gardening and Farming

11:00 - 11:30  Break - light snacks provided

11:30 - 1:00    Best Practices for Compost Making - Method and Observations

1:00 - 2:30      Lunch - Bring your own lunch or plan to eat at a nearby restaurant (suggestions listed below)

2:30 - 4:00      We Build a Compost Pile Together!

4:00 - 4:30      Break - light snacks provided

4:30 - 6:00      Community Stirring and Spraying of Biodynamic Soil Preparation in the Garden - Horn Manure Preparation (also known as                           BD 500)

PLEASE PLAN FOR:

  • A day outdoors, be prepared for both shade and sun.  

  • Park in the school parking lot or mindfully in the adjacent neighborhood.

  • You will be learning a specific composting method.  Bring a notepad and ask questions!

  • Participants are encouraged to bring a bucket of kitchen scraps from home to add to the compost pile.  The process and resulting compost will benefit from your energy contribution!  An invitational suggestion, friends -- not a requirement. 

  • Bring a jar from home.  We hope to send folks home with some activated BD preparation for your gardens.

  • Suggested Restaurants:  On The Alley, Los Agaves, Natural Cafe, Oat Bakery, Mesa Burger
